Charisma Diamond/ Charisma Topaz ONE Shade blends seamlessly into the surrounding dentition, independent of the tooth shade, enabling restorations to simply disappear. The universal composites for everyday restorations offer a new one-shade solution within the Charisma family for the majority of everyday cases.
Charisma Diamond/Charisma Topaz ONE Shade determines the shade of the restoration by absorbing the lightwaves that are reflected by the surrounding tooth shade.
Charisma Bulk Flow ONE combines the self-levelling effect of a flowable material with a high curing depth and good stability after application. This allows to place increments of up to 4 mm inside a cavity. With Charisma Bulk Flow ONE dentists can reduce treatment time without the need for shade selection or the placement of a universal composite as an additional capping layer. With its range of indications from bulk filling through cavity lining to fillings in primary teeth, the efficient restoration procedure is further enhanced by the equally reliable and versatile bonding solution GLUMA Bond Universal.
In an external study done by Prof. Nate Lawson Charisma Bulk Flow ONE was one of the materials which showed the highest depth of cure and at the same time the lowest translucency of the tested bulk fills. Charisma Bulk Flow ONE can be placed safely in up to 4 mm bulk layers without the need of an additional capping layer.
Low shrinkage stress and high flexural strength ensure durable restorations. High wear resistance allows Charisma Bulk Flow ONE to withstand high mastication loads in the posterior region.

Its high radiopacity of more than 250%-AL allows for a safe and predictable diagnosis.
What are the reasons why Charisma Bulk Flow ONE can be used in areas of mastication load?
Charisma Bulk Flow ONE is a highly filled flowable composite with 65% by mass which leads to a reliable resistance towards the mastication load in the posterior region. Furthermore, the material shows high wear resistance and flexural strength on a level of leading high-viscous composites.
Can Charisma Bulk Flow ONE be used in class IV cavities?
Independent from its usability, Charisma Bulk Flow ONE is not indicated for class IV cavities.
Can Charisma Bulk Flow ONE be used in the anterior region?
Charisma Bulk Flow ONE is indicated for class III and class V restorations. The Adaptive Light Matching ensures an optimised colour adaptation in ONE shade. Customers have especially made good experience in terms of shade match if the class III restoration has a small labial part or an intact labial wall.
Although Charisma Bulk Flow ONE can be used in areas of mastication load, is it possi-ble to use a high-viscous composite for the modelling of a capping layer? And what com-posite shade are you recommending for this capping layer?
A high-viscous composite such as Charisma Diamond or Charisma Topaz can be used as capping layer if preferred. This allows the creation of the natural morphology in the occlusion which is requested e.g. in case of big cavities or cusp replacement. Any shade can basically be used based on individual preferences. Especially the Charisma Diamond/ Charisma Topaz ONE Shade promises the same colour adaptation to the surrounding dentition like Charisma Bulk Flow ONE.
How is the ONE Shade working?
The ONE shade has been optimised to deliver the perfect balance of chroma and translucency that allows the restoration to become virtually invisible. Therefore, the ONE shade can be used with confidence in any Class I and Class II restoration. And this colour adaptation is what we call Adaptive Light Matching.
Are there further colours available?
Charisma Bulk Flow ONE was optimised to simplify daily practice. The ONE shade with its Adaptive Light Matching ensures a colour match to any dentition. This is why further colours in the given indications are not needed.
What are the differences between the usage of Charisma Bulk Flow ONE and Charisma Di-amond/ Charisma Topaz ONE?
Charisma Bulk Flow ONE is a flowable bulk-filling composite with curing depths of up to 4mm whereas the high-viscous composites Charisma Classic as well as Charisma Diamond and Charisma Topaz in ONE Shade are applied in incremental layering techniques in 2mm. The different viscosities and application techniques imply different benefits complementing eachother in everyday posterior restorations.
What is the flexural strength in comparison to high-viscous composites?
Charisma Bulk Flow ONE complies with ISO4049 and is released for posterior restorations in-cluding occlusal surfaces. Its flexural strength of 120MPa is on a level or even superior than leading high-viscous composites which ensures a reliable resistance against mastication forc-es.
What is the wear resistance of Charisma Bulk Flow ONE?
Charisma Bulk Flow ONE has shown comparable wear rates to other composites indicated for the restoration of occlusal surfaces in the posterior region based on standard test methods.
Does Charisma Bulk Flow ONE require an opaque blocker?
In case of severe discolourations, the tooth-coloured opaque shade Charisma Opal Flow OM (Opaque Medium) can be used. Alternatively, the white-opaque Charisma Opal Flow Baseliner can be used at the bottom of the cavity. This allows the coverage of discolourations and pre-vents the unnecessary removal of healthy tooth substance in case of a re-entry.
When is Charisma Bulk Flow ONE recommended to be used with or without capping lay-er?
Using Charisma Bulk Flow ONE without capping layer is beneficial in all clinical cases where a flowable viscosity is ideal during placement, e.g. slot or small cavities or those with tunnel preps, class III restorations with intact labial wall or class V restorations. From a patient perspective, Charisma Bulk Flow ONE is furthermore ideal in cases with little patient compliance or time. By preference or if patients demand a natural morphology, Charisma Bulk Flow ONE can always be used with capping layer, too. Using Charisma Classic, Charisma Diamond or Charisma Topaz on top might be advisable in big cavities or cusp replacements.
How does Charisma Bulk Flow ONE behave after teeth get bleached or are aging?
Charisma Bulk Flow ONE does not bleach or age in colour itself. However, its Light Adaptive Matching ensures a colour match to any dentition which still applies to a certain extend to teeth getting bleached or that are aging. Kulzer however recommends whitening procedure to be completed a minimum of 14 days prior to placing the composite restoration. This is to ensure an ideal fit in colour and proper curing of the dental adhesive.
Is Charisma Bulk Flow ONE based on the traditional monomers like BisGMA, TEGDMA or HEMA?
Charisma Bulk Flow ONE is based on established multifunctional methacrylate monomers (UDMA, EBADMA).
Is Charisma Bulk Flow ONE compatible with other composites and bonding agents?
Charisma Bulk Flow ONE can be combined with all commercially available (meth)acrylate-based composites and bondings. We recommend the use of the universal nano-hybrid composite Charisma Classic, Charisma Diamond or Charisma Topaz as well as the bonding agents GLUMA Bond Universal or Gluma 2Bond.
What is the filler content?
Charisma Bulk Flow ONE contains approximately 65 % by weight, or 41 % by volume inorganic fillers such as Ba-AI-F silicate glass, YbF3 and SiO2. The filler particle size is between 0.02 μm and 5 μm.
Does Charisma Bulk Flow ONE release fluoride?
The glass fillers, used in the composite compound, contain fluoride. The glass structure bonds the fluoride ionicly and in this form, it is less soluble compared to sodium fluoride. This is why we can state that Charisma Bulk Flow ONE releases some fluoride traces but beyond any clinical or caries protective relevance.
Can Charisma Bulk Flow ONE be used for cementing veneers?
Independent from its usability, Charisma Bulk Flow ONE is not indicated for cementing veneers.
Is Charisma Bulk Flow ONE radiopaque?
Yes, Charisma Bulk Flow ONE fillings are easily recognized on X-rays which supports a reliable diagnosis. Its radiopacity with app. 300%-Al is much higher than the radiopacity of dentine (100%-Al) and enamel (200%-Al).
Can brackets also be bonded with Charisma Bulk Flow ONE?
Independent from its usability, Charisma Bulk Flow ONE is not indicated for bonding of brackets.
